2025 NBA Draft group chat reactions
Move over analysts, three guys in their late 20s are here to deliver some post-NBA draft takes that nobody asked for.
We Have Wi-Fi. We Have Eyeballs. We Have Opinions.
When it comes to covering basketball, that’s basically all you need.
The Pistons didn’t have a 5th overall pick to debate this year, which honestly threw off the whole rhythm of draft night. So, instead of writing a 1200 word essay on our 37th pick Chaz Lanier, I turned to a more trusted source for draft reactions/responses: my group chat.
Will the Poole party in NOLA actually turn out to be a fun time or will it be more like that scene in Final Destination 4? Will Phoenix finally admit they have a shooting guard/center addiction? Let’s dive right in.
Here’s what we got:
CBH:
As much as I like Derik Queen, I think giving up what will likely be a lottery pick next year—somewhere in the single digits—to jump 10 spots and take him was pretty f**in’ dumb.
The Jazz taking Ace Bailey even though he explicitly didn’t want to go there when the draft started, then grabbing Clayton Jr later in the first—that’s insurance in case Ace crashes out and is a menace.
Mattle Snake:
I love what the Pelicans did. Even though it probably won’t work out! I think Jeremiah Fears will be the steal of the draft.
CBH (again):
They got great talent overall and made some decent moves, but I have zero idea if any of it works together. Almost everyone involved is unreliable or inconsistent.
KD:
Big fan of this bit the Phoenix Suns are doing where they’re effectively recreating the 2022–23 Charlotte Hornets roster. It’s like that scene in The Other Guys where the captain keeps quoting TLC but insists it’s not on purpose.
They already had Nick Richards, Mason Plumlee, and Cody Martin. Bring in Mark Williams. That’s five ex-Hornets—and three of them are centers. Funny stuff.
That’s All We Got
Happy offseason. Hurry up, Summer League. Thanks for reading.
